...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 100 and 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health
impacts will build with each successive day in the heat and
humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

UNION COUNTY, Ill. --听Update:听12:07 p.m. -听Traffic is back open for I-57 SB in Union County after a deadly accident occurred Monday morning.

Update:听Illinois state police confirm the crash involved a passenger car and a Semi-tractor trailer, and that at least one person has died.

Original story:听A crash has caused a portion of I-57 SB in Union County to close Monday morning.听

An alert from Union County states the vehicle accident happened between the Anna and Lick Creek Road exits around the 34 mile marker at around 7:35 a.m.

Traffic is being diverted off at the Lick Creek Road exit.
