Lock your cars: Herrin police informs public of spike in car burglaries and thefts

HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Herrin Police Department is urging residents to secure their vehicles as the city faces a surge in burglaries and thefts.

"We are working very diligently in trying to find the culprit/culprits of such crimes," the police department said in an online post.

They advise residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables to prevent theft.

Police encourage anyone observing suspicious activity, particularly late at night or early in the morning, to contact them immediately by calling 911 or 618-942-4132.
