Semi-truck and trailer fire in Jefferson County affects southbound traffic

DIX, Ill. (WSIL) -- One southbound lane reopened just after 7 p.m. on I-57 in Jefferson County after a semi-truck and trailer caught fire on Tuesday evening.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) said their troopers responded to the semi-truck and trailer fire at 6:10 p.m. on December 3, near the 103 mile marker in the southbound lanes of I-57.

ISP said both southbound lanes were initially shut down, however, they have since opened one lane back up.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.
