Severe storms cause power outages across Southern Illinois counties

MOUND CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative experienced several outages across its system due to severe storms overnight.

Crews worked throughout the night to address outages in Alexander, Pulaski and Union counties.

On Thursday, rain and scattered thunderstorms moved through the area, causing minor flash flooding and damage to trees and utility poles.

Electric crews are actively working to restore power completely across the region.
