(WSIL) -- A Jefferson County firefighter is being thanked after rescuing two men on the Tennessee River this weekend.
Jefferson Fire Protection District's James Clark was off the clock, with his family, when they spotted two men without life jackets near an overturned boat.
Clark and his family immediately sped up to the men and helped them out of the water.
Clark's father, Tony, says this rescue is a warning to practice safety while on the water.
"They were very unfamiliar with a dangerous river. People need to understand, you've gotta know what you're doing on the river, it's very dangerous," said Tony Clark.
The two men who were rescued are doing fine.
