Four newly constructed bridges open after 20 months in western Kentucky

PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- KY 408/Eggners Ferry Road east of Benton reopened to traffic on June 10. This was the last of four bridges which were replaced.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 1 announced the completion of four new bridges is along the Clarks River Wildlife Refuge.

The $9.1 million project replaced the Johns River Bridge, Johns River Overflow Bridge, Clarks River Bridge, and Clarks River Overflow Bridge. These bridges were closed for about 20 months during construction.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers was the prime contractor for the project. The work finished two months ahead of schedule, according to KYTC.
