LONDON, Ky. -- Authorities in Kentucky have identified human remains from more than four decades ago as they continue to investigate a murder.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 11 said they positively identified some remains which were found roughly 45 years ago. They did it with the help of some advanced fingerprint identification technology.
Kentucky State Police Detective James Royal, with the help from KSP and FBI Laboratories, used the fingerprint database with the Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), to try to identify the victim in the 45-year murder investigation.
KSP Post 11 notified the family members of the positive identification of the remains. They said he was identified as Michael Murray.
Murray was originally from Atlanta, Georgia, however, he was believed to have been living in California at the time of his death.
KSP urges anyone that has any information on Murray's death to call Detective James Royal at 606-878-6622.
