* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

WASHINGTON (AP) � President Joe Biden says the Sept. 11 attacks “cannot explain� why U.S. troops should remain in Afghanistan 20 years later as he explains the timeline for ending America’s longest war.

Biden plans a speech to the nation later Wednesday and the White House has released excerpts of the address.

Biden says the U.S. cannot continue to pour resources into an intractable war and expect different results.

Biden says, “I am now the fourth American president to preside over an American troop presence in Afghanistan. Two Republicans. Two Democrats. I will not pass this responsibility to a fifth.�
