JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Forest Service Road 825 in the Johnson Creek area of Jackson County is temporarily closed.

The U.S. Forest Service - Shawnee National Forest said the road closure extends beyond the picnic shelter and affects all forms of traffic including foot, horse and vehicles.

The Gum Ridge Repeater site in the Johnson Creek area suffered damage during recent storms, the U.S. Forest Service reported. Tree limbs fell on several radio tower guide wires, causing them to break.

The area has been flagged off to keep people safe. Officials asked everyone to stay away until a maintenance team repairs the tower.
