Carterville falls to Beecher in Softball State Championship

PEORIA, Ill. (WSIL) � The Carterville Lions fell to Beecher in the IHSA Class 2A State Championship game at OSF Healthcare Field in Peoria on Saturday.

The score was 5-2 and took extra innings to decide the champion.

The Carterville Lions started the scoring in the bottom of the 1st as Caidence Phillips gets a single and brings in Colbie Bennett for a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the 4th, Lainey Workman drives in Savannah Gibbs for a 2-0 lead.

Beecher gets on the board in the top of the 6th with a 2-run home run by Ava Lorenzatti.

In the top of the 10th, Scanlan singles, bringing in multiple runs.

Final score: Beecher 5, Carterville 2.
