DU QUOIN, Ill. -- The Du Quoin State Fair comes to a close on Monday, Sept. 2. In honor of the final weekend, the city's Emergency Management Agency shared a look on  at some of the ways in which it helps to produce the event.Ìý
One of the factors the agency set up this year involved weather tracking. The team says it worked alongside the US National Weather Service of Paducah to hire a meteorologist on the fairgrounds. This helped the fair employees better manage operations should bad weather have arrived.Ìý
The agency also revealed its director attended a briefing with the fair's manager and stakeholders each morning. The team discussed each day's scheduled events and estimated attendees, allowing safety and weather precautions to be discussed and planned.Ìý
