Latoya D. Johnston, 37, of Water Valley, submitted herself into custody after officials identified her as a suspect in the crime. Johnston arrived at the Graves County Sheriff's Office at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials say Johnston apologized upon arrival and confessed to the crime. Deputies carried out the warrant on Johnston that charged her with Assault, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Driving on a Suspended Operators License.
Johnston's arrival also revealed the lack of insurance on her 2016 Chevrolet Traverse. Officials impounded the vehicle.Â
Deputies sent Johnston to an out-of-county detention center.
