Martial Arts Hall of Fame

ANNA, Ill. -- Local residents in martial arts were recently recognized by the national Hall of Fame for the sport.

Members of Coffman's Martial Arts went to Las Vegas on July 20 for the induction ceremony into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Grandmaster Robert Cutrell received the role of Ambassador, and his organization, ChunJIDo International, was named Organization of the Year.

Master Heather Coffman from the martial arts studio was named Distinguished Female Master. Cooper Johnson, meanwhile, received the status of Blackbelt of the Year. Coffman and Johnson both participated in a tournament at the Hall of Fame. Johnson earned a 2nd in traditional kata, and Coffman got the same, plus a first in traditional weapons.

Coffman will teach a self-defense seminar at the Hall of Fame training camp.

Prior to these honors, Coffman earned two gold medals at the International Sport Karate Association's World Championships in Orlando, FL. She has most recently been chosen as a member of the USA Karate Team and is headed to Greece in October 2024.
