UPDATE: 8:30 P.M. 09/20/2019: Cape Girardeau Fire Department Captain Jeff Crites told News 3 two people became stranded on the Mississippi River when their 10 ft. jon boat started to fill with rainwater.
The CGFD launched their rescue boat just outside of Cape Girardeau around 5:52 p.m. Friday. The two people on the jon boat were unable to steer the boat back to the dock. Neither of the passengers ended up in the Mississippi River.

CAPE GIRARDEAU (WSIL) � The Cape Girardeau Fire Department is conducting a rescue along the Mississippi River.
The CGFD posted a picture of their rescue boat on . It’s unclear how many people they could be searching for at this time and where exactly the search is taking place. News 3 is waiting to learn more details from the CGFD.
