(#2) Murphysboro football preps for rematch against (#11) Harrisburg in Quarterfinals

MURPHYSBORO, IL (WSIL) - Murphysboro football has shown they have what it takes to make a deep postseason run.

The #2 Red Devils have outscored their playoff opponents 63-26 and have not allowed more than 13 points per game.

MHS tangle with #11 Harrisburg at the home of the Bulldogs in the IHSA quarterfinals. Its a rematch from week 7.

Doc Bencini field is busy this week for the Red Devils as the two Southern Illinois teams fight for a spot in the final four in class 4A

MHS head coach Gary Carter spent the day getting his offense ready for Saturday's showdown.

Murphysboro is coming off a 14-13 second round victory over #7 Charleston.

In the week 7 game against Harrisburg, the Red Devils smoked the Bulldogs 40-0.

That was over a month ago, the Red Devils say past performance is no guarantee of future.

Later this week, we will check in with the Bulldogs to see how they plan to get revenge on the Red Devils. Kickoff is set for 2:00PM.
