Saluki hoops seeking first 3-0 start since 2020-2021 season

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - Entering the season Saluki basketball fans had concerns about how the team would play without its top two players.
Those concerns have gone away for a short time.
After 2 games these Dawgs have looked good winning by 28 and 31 points.
Those victories came against Davison II. Kentucky State and former D2 program Queens University.
Southern is coming off a 91-68 win over queens university last Friday and there was a like to like in the victory over the Royals.
The salukis finish off their three game home stand on Thursday night with a matchup against Chicago state.
SIU leads the all-time series against Chicago State 12-1 and own a perfect 8-0 record against the Cougars.
Head coach Bryan Mullins says after two games, his group is coming to work, finding success, and embracing that "Keep your Chip" mentality.
"I think we improved from Monday to Friday we had good practices I thought we prepared well, I thought the guys took ownership of the scout and we got a big week ahead of us in terms of getting better until we play on Thursday, Head Coach Bryan Mullins said."
A saluki win tomorrow night would give the Dawgs their best start since the 2020/2021 season. That year Southern won its first 7 games.Â
