DES MOINES, Iowa (WSIL) - The Saluki Softball team defeated Drake at Buel Field in Des Moines in the Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship Tournament on Thursday.
#1 SIU (32-19, 21-5) defeated #8 Drake (22-32), 12-15) with a score of 12-4 and will face the winner of #4 Illinois State and #5 Missouri State in the semifinals on Friday at 1 p.m.
SIU's Sage Grann got the ball rolling in the bottom of the second with an RBI single. Emma Austin and Jackie Lis also had hits which brought in runs. SIU up 5-0 after two.
The scoring didn't stop there. The next inning, SIU added seven more runs. This includes two home runs from Anna Crader and Emily Williams. SIU up 12-0 after three innings.
Carey Koenig and Ava Curry with the Bulldogs were responsible for bringing in their four runs.
