CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Plenty of SIU Basketball supporters in the area.
At the end of the season the Bantera Center was packed with more than six thousand fans for home games.
With the pandemic, we haven't heard much on the SIU basketball team, so I thought I'd change that. I caught up with SIU Head Basketball Coach Bryan Mullins.
Plenty of talent returning in players such as Marcus Domask and Lance Jones.
And in the upcoming weeks we'll introduce to the new faces but for now, Coach how's your team doing? Can you get us all caught up?
"It's been a great summer into fall transition for our program," Mullins said. "The guys have worked extremely hard over the last six weeks and kind of like I mentioned the last time we talked Jason, just about getting them in shape and the physical toll and making sure their bodies are ready to go after this season after the four or five months of not inactivity but not just their usual workout regimen that they are accustomed to. I'm really pleased with this group and I knew what kind of young men we had in the program in terms of their mindset and their character and work ethic and them being back in the arena, back in the Bantera Center, having the weight room, having the treatment and the rehab stuff and they took advantage of it and they probably are a little more appreciative of being back on campus and being together and being able to shoot whenever you want, so I'm really pleased with where we are right now."
