Jasmine Chameis is a Southern Illinois native, however, she was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but grew up in Cairo, Illinois.
Jasmine attended Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois, before transferring to SIU in Carbondale and graduated with dual bachelor’s degrees in Radio Television and Theatre. While attending SIU, Jasmine worked at the college's PBS Station, anchored and reported for River Region and performed in numerous productions on campus.
Jasmine has been with WSIL since 2013 and in that time she has learned skills in multiple positions, including editing, directing, producing, anchoring and reporting. She has a passion for local history and has spent several years researching the southern Illinois area which she calls home.
Jasmine is a mom of two and enjoys gardening. In her free time, she also enjoys visiting the local eateries and trying area favorites.
