...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily Heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Blocked intersection may be done by the end of the year

Marion (WSIL) � The plans of a roundabout project in Marion is well underway.

Mayor, Mike Absher, says the intersection of North Carbon Street and Morgan Avenue is set to be completed in December weather permitting.

Absher says the roundabout will have about a 40 percent higher traffic capacity than the previous intersection.

This will be the second roundabout in Marion outside of the city square.

"That area is becoming very very intense with the number of cars and trucks that are going on that road, so we’re hoping this increases our capacity quite a bit there," Absher said.

According to its agenda On Tuesday, the City Council will consider safety improvements at the intersection of Williamson County parkway and 17th Street.
