HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- Steve Miller has been named the 2025 recipient of the HerrinFesta Italiana Lifetime Achievement Award. This honor recognizes his extensive contributions to the Herrin community and beyond.

Miller's involvement with PONY Baseball and Softball International, where he serves as Chairman of the Board, is particularly notable. His founding of the Champions Division in Herrin, which provides baseball opportunities for children with special needs, has had a global impact.

Steve's vision and advocacy have transformed the lives of countless young athletes around the world, a representative with HerrinFesta Italiana stated.

Miller's leadership extends to his role as an Alderman for Ward 3 in Herrin and his service on various local boards. He has been instrumental in developing youth sports facilities and programs in the area.

Professionally, Miller worked as a Federal Supervisor with the Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration, focusing on fatality reconstruction. His career also included contributions to local infrastructure projects.

In recent years, Miller and his wife, Cindy, have volunteered with their therapy dogs, Mr. Baker and Ms. Maudie, bringing joy to hospitals, schools, and other facilities.

Miller's dedication to his community, youth mentorship, and professional achievements highlight his deserving recognition by HerrinFesta Italiana. His life of service continues to inspire those around him.
