CARBONDALE, Ill. -- In the ongoing saga of the black bear travelling through our region, the latest sightings have put him in Carbondale.Â
The Hickory Ridge Public Gulf Course on Sunday, July 21 that the bear was seen on its course. According to the post, the bear was between holes four and six.Â
Residents have been very excited about the bear all week. Hickory Ridge's post has already received 19 comments, 45 reactions and 55 shares in the 2.5 hours it's been up.Â
The bear, assumedly having travelled from Carrier Mills to Williamson County and now Carbondale, has continued to spark talk here at News 3, too. All week, our inboxes have been flooded with alleged bear sightings and questions.Â
As a reminder, Illinois officials say to leave the bear alone if you see it. That is for both you and the bear's safety.Â
