WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A black bear has been spotted in Williamson County.Â

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office alerted residents to the sighting on Thursday morning. According to a , deputies responded to a sighting at 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18. Officials say the bear was seen around Galatia Post and Angelville Roads. This sits in the eastern half of the county.Â
This sighting comes a week after a bear was seen in Carrier Mills, IL. It is unclear at this time if this is the same bear.Â
Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich says the bear was seen by "multiple witnesses." He asks residents to avoid the bear, and call the office at 618-997-6541 if they see the animal. Â
