Egyptian Hills relaunches as Marion KOA, kicks off summer offerings

MARION, Ill. -- The Egyptian Hills Resort has relaunched as the Marion/Shawnee National Forest KOA and is prepping for Memorial Day Weekend.Ìý

The KOA has installed a number of new features to kick off the summer at the lake.Ìý

First off, the resort has opened a new general store. Deeming it a "mini Cracker Barrell," the store sells items such as kid toys, sweatshirts, t-shirts, PJs, pet toys and pharmacy items.Ìý

The store also includes a café which offers several dishes. The menu includes pizza, salads, milkshakes, sandwiches, nachos and the famous boozy shake.Ìý

Looking toward some of the bigger offerings, the KOA has a wedding venue on the lake. The wedding hall is perfect for lake-side views and even features games for guests, including a shuffleboard and a foosball table.Ìý

Perhaps the main attraction for families around the region is the KOA's water park. The park features giant, blow-up attractions including an obstacle course, slides, a hamster wheel, and climbing walls. This year, passes for the water park are available for anyone, not just those who are staying on site.Ìý

Of course, the KOA offers cabins around the lake. These cabins allow easy access to all of the campground's amenities and are perfect for a summer getaway.Ìý
