Vienna school bus involved in pedestrian crash

UPDATE: 5:25 p.m.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is providing more details about Wednesday morning's crash. 

Deputies say around 9:35 a.m. a man walked out in front of the Vienna HS bus. 

The man, 52-year-old James Craft of Carbondale, was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries. He was later flown to a St. Louis area hospital. 

No students or staff were injured. 

The investigation is ongoing.

CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- A Vienna School bus was involved in a crash in Jackson County Wednesday morning. 

It happened on Giant City Road between No Name Road and Boskeydell Road, south of Carbondale. 

Vienna Superintendent Joshua Stafford said while a bus was en-route to SIU, a pedestrian walked out in front of the bus.

The person hit was taken to a hospital for treatment. All students were uninjured and have arrived at SIU for their event. 

No other details were provided.
