...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM CDT FOR NORTH
CENTRAL JOHNSON AND SOUTHEASTERN WILLIAMSON COUNTIES...

At 911 PM CDT, a severe squall line capable of producing both
tornadoes and extensive straight line wind damage was located over
Lake Of Egypt Area, or 9 miles south of Marion, moving northeast at
55 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is
likely.

These dangerous storms will be near...
Marion, Lake Of Egypt Area, and Creal Springs around 915 PM CDT.
Pittsburg around 920 PM CDT.

This includes Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 45 and
52.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

Tornadoes are extremely difficult to see and confirm at night. Do not
wait to see or hear the tornado. TAKE COVER NOW!

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN UNION...NORTHERN
JOHNSON...WILLIAMSON...SOUTHEASTERN JACKSON AND SOUTHEASTERN FRANKLIN
COUNTIES THROUGH 945 PM CDT...

At 842 PM CDT, trained weather spotters reported strong thunderstorms
along a line extending from near De Soto to near Cobden. Movement was
northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Whiteash, Lake Of Egypt Area, Cambria, Herrin, Spillertown,
Pittsburg, Crainville, Johnston City, Colp, Creal Springs, Energy,
Carbondale, Makanda, Williamson County Regional Airport, New
Burnside, Goreville, Marion, Carterville, Thompsonville, and
Stonefort.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 24 in Illinois between Mile Markers 1 and 6.
Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 36 and 62.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for southern
Illinois.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for
south central Illinois.

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Williamson and Franklin
Counties.

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

.A couple more rounds of moderate to heavy rain can be expected into
the weekend. The rest of the event rainfall has been incorporated
into the river forecast.  The Big Muddy River has started to rise and
crests are expected over the next week. Now is the time to prepare
for flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

- At 11:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 14.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
early tomorrow afternoon and continue rising to a crest of
28.1 feet Tuesday evening.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

.Showers and storms have produced 2 to 5 inches of rainfall across
most of the Quad State since Wednesday. A few isolated zones have
received as much as 8 inches as of early this morning. Another 4 to
8 inches of rainfall forecast through Sunday will result in a
particularly dangerous flooding and flash flooding situation.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding and flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected. With 2 to 8 inches already fallen and another 4 to 8
inches forecast, a particularly dangerous situation is likely to
develop.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Through Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS...
...This is a particularly dangerous situation...

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams,
and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams
may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
Extensive street flooding may develop. Flooding may occur in homes,
businesses and other locations not normally subject to flooding.
Roadways may wash away near creeks and culverts.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of locally heavy rainfall over several days
will result in extreme forecast amounts of over 1 foot of
rain that will cause the risk of flash flooding and flooding
to rise markedly and create a particularly dangerous flooding
situation.

Monitor later forecasts and be alert for Flash Flood and Flood
Warnings. Be prepared to take action when flooding develops.

Body of missing Woodlawn woman recovered; autopsy scheduled

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- The search for a missing Jefferson County woman came to an end Sunday morning.

Rescuers recovered the body of 25-year old Shelby Mitchell according to Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard.

Mitchell went missing around 3:30 a.m. Saturday following reports that her vehicle left the road on Panzier Lane just south of Illinois Route 15 near Woodlawn.

Bullard says an autopsy is scheduled and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mitchell's death is underway.

On Saturday, crews pinpointed Mitchell's approximate location using GPS but had to rescue efforts due to dangerous conditions caused by flooding.

Friends and family gathered for a prayer vigil at Woodlawn High School later that night where Mitchell, a Woodlawn alum, worked.

A to help pay for funeral and memorial expenses.
