CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Hundreds of art pieces hang along the walls of Longbranch, with bidding sheets and pencils likely no one will see before the pieces are sold.
Illinois' Stay at Home order was issued shortly after Kids' Sake Art Auction organizers finished hanging the art and decorating the restaurant in anticipation of their 20th annual auction opening celebration.
The annual event benefits kids in Bangladesh and as technology gently tugged on the organization to offer its auction online, they held off, until now.
"The show has always been about Kids helping Kids, and I think moving online and being in these really kind of strange times -- what it offers is a way for people to do something meaningful and still connect with everyone and still support the kids," said Ryan Edwards, For Kids' Sake assistant director.
Edwards said they quickly went to work photographing every piece of artwork, developed a secured method to operate an online auction, and now all they need is for the community to do their part and have fun outbidding others.
"Our goal would be for every piece of artwork to find a home," said Edwards. "Right now there's about 100 pieces that don't have any bids yet. Anything that says, 'starting bid' hasn't been bid on yet."
The auction is one of the organization's largest fundraising efforts, which completes its bidding April 26. To browse the works and send your bid in, visit .
