CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the City of Carbondale has adopted updated guidance on face coverings, effective immediately.
This is a direct result of southern Illinois, Region 5, experiencing an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases which has categorized Jackson County as an area of “high transmission.�
The updated mask guidance recommends that when indoors, individuals wear a face-covering and maintain 6 feet social distance, regardless of vaccination status. The City of Carbondale will require all employees and visitors to wear a face-covering inside City buildings.Â
“I understand that getting vaccinated is a very personal choice. If you or someone you know are vaccine-hesitant, ±è±ô±ð²¹²õ±ðÌýreconsider, speak with your friends who have been vaccinated, and get additional information from your healthcare providers,â€� said Mayor Mike Henry.Â
To receive the vaccine, the Jackson County Health Department is hosting walk-in vaccination clinics at their facility in Murphysboro on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. On Tuesdays, the vaccination clinic is open 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
