(WQOW) - The CDC has given new travel guidelines ahead of the holiday season.
It is also recommended that you delay travel if you have not been vaccinated, but if you have to travel you should follow the CDC's recommendations for people who are not fully vaccinated, including wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.
It's still early to tell what case numbers would look like for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Halloween is quickly approaching and local officials say we can trick-or-treat safely.
"Certainly trick or treating is a fun activity for kids and it's pretty easy to do in a really safe manor. If you are just trick or treating with your family, staying outdoors, and trying to keep distance from other people who also might be out and about then those are some pretty safe options," said Audrey Boerner with the Eau Claire City-County Health Department.
Officials recommend that those giving away candy should pre-package the treats and make it 'grab and go' rather than handing it out to each kid.
Boerner added that if you are going to see older relatives during the holidays, you should talk to them about getting their booster shot before visiting.
