VIENNA (WSIL) -- Some gun stores in 九游体育 Illinois and Western Kentucky are re-stocking their shelves after higher than usual customer volumes.
Owner of Marshall Tactical Outfitters Guns & Ammo in Vienna says they have been busier than normal.
"The most popular round is 5.56/.223 we still have quite a bit of that left. There's a variety of defensive ammunition .380, 40 caliber."
Owner Harry Marshall says the rush of business is unusual but understandable.
"Sometimes we do get an influx on people coming in for various reasons, but this is definitely due to the uncertainty of what's going on right now," said Marshall.
He says the past two days, dozens of firearm owners have walked through his door to buy guns and ammunition.
Although the foot traffic is good, he says it'll also bring some challenges.
"My wife and I have discussed this pretty extensively of how do we proceed after all of this. We do know all of our distributors, on ammunition primarily, has dried up and several of the firearms, I've noticed, that we went out to inquire on had been sold. So, I mean it's a national thing, it's a lot larger than just a regional thing," Marshall explained.
Some gun owners speaking to News 3 off camera, say they're making sure to stock up on supply, because they don't know how bad the COVID-19 pandemic will get.
Marshall says, "I think once the other town's gun stores start drying up, they're probably going to go out to the small gun shops. We do have a variety, but I don't think it'll last long at the rate things are going."
