(WSIL) -- Health experts say more people may be getting calls from contact tracers in the coming weeks.

Officials say more people likely got together with family and friends for the holidays.

Local health departments said it not a scary process and they won't ask for money or private information.

Nathan Ryder with Southern 7 Health Department said contact tracing is an important process for both you and your loved ones.

"We're not here to judge you. We're here to help you through the process of being in contact with someone who might be positive with COVID-19. That can be a scary situation in itself. So we're here to sort of help you through that. Provide us with information that we need to help slow or stop the spread of this disease." Ryder said.

All information collected from contact tracers is kept private.

Ryder hopes demystifying the process will make more people answer tracer's calls and help slow community spread.
