SPRINGFIELD (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has announced 724 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 23 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 143,185 cases, including 6,923 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois.
In Southern Illinois, new cases were reported Tuesday in Franklin, Hamilton, Jackson, Johnson, Perry, Pulaski, Randolph and Williamson counties.
Franklin County
- Four female teenagers and one female in her 50s
To date, there have been 19 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Franklin County. Of those, 12 have recovered.
Hamilton County
- Female in her 60s
This is the 5th confirmed case in Hamilton County. The health department says two people have recovered, two are isolating at home, and one is in the hospital.
Jackson County
- Male in his 20s, male in his 40s
The two new cases bring the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jackson County to 330, including 19 related deaths. Health officials say 17 active cases are currently being managed.
Johnson County
- Female in her 50s
Johnson County has had 21 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Four of those cases are currently active.
Perry County
- Adult male in his teens
There have been 51 total cases of COVID-19 and one related death in Perry County. The health department reports six cases are currently active.
Pulaski County
- Four males in their 30s, two males in their 40s
To date, Pulaski County has had 73 total cases of COVID-19. Of those cases, 49 have recovered and 24 are still active.
Randolph County
- Six new cases
There have been 288 confirmed cases and 7 deaths related to COVID-19 in Randolph County. There are currently nine active cases.
Williamson County
- One male in his 40s, two males in their 50s
Williamson County has had 120 confirmed cases and four deaths related to COVID-19. Of the positive cases, 75 people have since recovered.
