SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WREX) � Illinois is reporting its first week of more than 10,000 coronavirus cases since moving to weekly reports in the middle of June.
The state reported 11,682 new confirmed and probable cases of the virus in the past week. Here's a look at the number of cases reported on a weekly basis since late June in Illinois:
- July 30 - 11,682
- July 23 - 7,983
- July 16 - 4,449
- July 9 - 2,945
- July 2 - 2,120
- June 25 - 1,744Â
The state also reported 39 new deaths in the last week related to the virus. IDPH is reporting a total of 1,419,611Â cases and 23,440 deaths since the pandemic started.

Cases of COVID-19 in Illinois have increased by 46% over last week and hospitalizations are up 35%, including increases in ICU admissions by 24% and a 41% increase of people with COVID-19 on ventilators.Â
The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from July 23-29, 2021 is 4.7%. However, regional 7-day test positivity averages range from 2.8% to 9.5%.Â
In Region 5, southern Illinois, the seven-day positivity rate is currently at 9%.
More than 74% of Illinois adults have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and more than 58% of Illinois adults are fully vaccinated, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
