Jackson County reports one new COVID-19 case

MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- The Jackson County Health Department is reporting one new case of COVID-19.

The person is a female in her teens who is believed to have acquired the disease through close contact with a known case, and is being placed in isolation.

As of June 7, there have been 302 laboratory confirmed cases in Jackson County, including eleven deaths related to the disease.

According to the department, five additional cases were released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines, bringing the total released to date to 256 individuals.

Currently, 35 cases are being managed.
