Local restaurants reopen with outdoor dining

MARION (WSIL) -- Friday was a landmark day in Illinois, leading into a big weekend ahead.

Phase 3 of the governor's plan has taken effect, meaning some parks, retail and restaurants are opening back up in limited capacities.

Marion restaurant, Thai D, reopened with outdoor dining.

The manager says the restaurant will hopefully soon have up to 60 seats.

Menus are available online to reduce touching and contact and there is a device for customers to buzz for a waiter.

One patron expressed real excitement at the ability to eat outside.

"Man, I have been looking forward to this day for so long. We love Thai D, we love so many of our Marion, Illinois businesses. To get back together, to have a meal with somebody, to enjoy this beautiful day, it's been a long time coming," said Josh Benitone.

Outdoor seating will be available all week long.

Currently, children under 12 are not permitted due to the location of the dining area.

Curbside pickup is still available.
