JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) � The Missouri House is advancing a bill to limit pandemic-related lawsuits. The GOP-led House gave the proposal initial approval in a voice vote Thursday.
Under the bill, businesses and private property owners couldn't be sued unless they intentionally expose people to a contagious illness and people get sick.
The bill would prevent government interference with businesses or other privately owned properties unless there’s a major infectious disease outbreak, and governments couldn't order someone to quarantine unless they're infected.
Limiting COVID-19 lawsuits is a top priority for Republican Gov. Mike Parson. But lawmakers only have until mid-May to pass the bill.
