below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

SIU now requiring masks on campus

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) -- New guidance from the , to slow the spread of COVID-19 has prompted a change at SIU.

The following message went out from the SIU Chancellor on Tuesday, July 27.

Dear fellow Salukis,聽

Consistent with the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health, 九游体育 Illinois University Carbondale is requiring face masks be worn in shared spaces indoors such as lobbies, hallways and classrooms, regardless of vaccination status, effective immediately. According to the CDC, we are in an area with high transmission of the virus; therefore, we believe this step is necessary to keep everyone safe and have the in-person fall semester we all want.聽
