(WSIL) -- Four southern Illinois community health centers will receive federal grants to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
The grants were awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services through funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed in March.
Health centers can use the grants for COVID-19 screening and testing, medical supplies and protective equipment, and to boost staffing levels.
In all, 45 community health centers in Illinois will receive a total of $52.6 million in funding.
The centers receiving funding in southern Illinois are:

� Community Health & Emergency Services, Inc. (Cairo): $878,615
� Rural Health Inc. (Anna): $761,120
� Shawnee Health Service And Development Corporation (Carterville): $1,063,805
