MT. VERNON (WSIL) -- The increased demand for personal protective equipment (PPE), is now leading to hospitals asking for help.

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital is asking people and businesses to consider donating their unused PPE.

"We've had a really great generosity from schools that have nursing programs, or things like that, where they might have that to train people. N-95 masks are what we're really looking for, but also surgical masks, gowns and gloves," explained Director of FUND Development Shawna Bullard.

Bullard says, any donation will make a big difference in protecting patients, staff and the community.

"It's a really hard situation to be in, but we're really rallying together. The community is rallying behind us and that's so encouraging," Bullard said.

The best way to donate is to contact Good Samaritan Hospital at (618) 899-2512.
