PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky surpassed the 10-thousand mark for COVID-19 vaccinations.
The Lourdes Hospital vaccination team, as of Wednesday, has administered 10,744 vaccinations.
Mercy Health officials said they are now expanding their "vaccine eligibility" to all Kentucky residents who are 16-years-and-older.
The health system had already begun administrating the Pfizer vaccine to those meeting the guidelines outlined by the Kentucky Department for Public Health in the 1A, 1B, and 1C Tiers.
"What everybody is aiming towards, of course, is herd immunity. The more folks we have with the vaccination the greater the sense the community is being protected and getting back to some semblance of normalcy," said Tennille Rushing, the Director of Quality for Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.
Kentucky only residents only interested in making an appointment for the vaccine are urged to call the Mercy Health COVID Vaccine Hotline at (866) 624-0366.
