...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Peak daily heat index values up to around 105 degrees.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Woman dies from COVID-19 in Jackson County

(WSIL) -- A woman in her 90s has died in Jackson County from the COVID-19 coronavirus.

She was one of three new cases announced by the Jackson County Health Department on Thursday.

The others are:

  • Male in his seventies, who is isolated and doing fair
  • Female in her eighties, who is isolated and doing fair

All of the cases were contracted locally through contact with another person with the virus.

There have now been 25 confirmed cases in Jackson County and two deaths.

Six individuals have recovered in Jackson County.

Pulaksi County also has four confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Three are now in isolation inside the Pulaski County Detention Center in Ullin.

The other is a man in his 40s whose status has not been released.
