(WSIL) -- Every Thursday we have a segment called Pets of the Week. It's where we feature adoptable animals available in local shelters. Our hope is that through our partnership, we can help find these wonderful animals a forever home.

In our segment 'Pets of the Week,' we feature lovable animals in our local shelters who are looking for forever homes.

We'll start with a female mixed breed. She's a young one at approximately 6 months old, which makes her a good age to train. Her adoption fee is $192, but that price includes the cost of her spay, rabies vaccination and a microchip. She's looking for a name and a lovable forever home. You can find out more about this dog at the Williamson County Animal Control in Marion at 618-993-6075.

Aspen is our next pet available for adoption. She's back at the Humane Society (again), but workers there say that it's not her fault. She's a sweet girl and still young enough to train. She's also been stuck in a kennel her whole life, so she tends to explore when she has room. You'll have to keep a close eye on her, but her hyper personality could pair perfectly with the right family. Her description says that if you give her the chance, "she'll get the swing of things." She's ready to go home with the right family. You can call the Wayne County Humane Society for more information at 618-847-4012.

The solid black cat likes to be called Castiel. He's a great guy, known to be sweet, and happens to be the longest resident at Finding Forever Animal Rescue. His description says that he's shy, but a family who's willing to give him some patience and time, will find that he opens up. You can call 618-922-5186 for more information about Castiel.

The pretty girl pictured in the snow is Nicole. She's a special dog, with a few medical problems, and needs to go to a special home. She needs to have a family with a vet recommendation, and who have pets in the past. Because of her special needs, Nicole is fully sponsored. Her description says she's sassy and has a special spark for life. She likes to have fun, be silly and loves people and other dogs. You can find her at the Perry County Humane Society in DuQuoin at 618-542-3647.
