...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...

Big Muddy River near Murphysboro affecting Jackson County.

Big Muddy River near Plumfield affecting Franklin and Williamson
Counties.

.The Big Muddy River continues to rise due to heavy rain last week
and over the weekend. The river will crest on Thursday before
starting a very slow fall.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...Major
flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

forecast.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 28.2 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 30.7
feet early Thursday morning.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

13th Annual Twilight 5k Run/Walk ready for the starting line

13th Annual Twilight 5K Run/Walk

The Carterville Chamber of Commerce will hold their 13th Annual Twilight 5K Run/Walk for Friday, September 6, 2024 starting at 7 p.m.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- It's a Carterville tradition happening at dusk every year, and organizers are eager to get to the starting line. Chamber ambassador, Brian Flath, met with us for more on the event.

The 2024 Twilight 5k Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, September 6th at Cannon Park.
