Airlines add Super Bowl flights with a nod to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

American Airlines added 1989 and 87 flight numbers to the Super Bowl.

New York (CNN) 鈥� The are playing each other in this year鈥檚 Super Bowl, and are excited about the potential match 鈥� that is, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

American Airlines and United both added special flights between Kansas City and Las Vegas airports over the Super Bowl weekend with special flights numbers that have Swifties and the Chiefs Kingdom taking notice.

American added two flights with number 1989, a nod to Swift鈥檚 birth year and, arguably, her most popular album. The flights will take off on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 from Kansas City to the host city. Following the game, there is also now a Flight 87, Kelce鈥檚 jersey number, that departs Las Vegas on February 12.

鈥淭he excitement surrounding this year鈥檚 sporting events has never been greater,鈥� an American Airlines spokesperson told CNN. 鈥淵ou could say that after tonight鈥檚 games, we are in our football era, and we are thrilled to provide direct flights from Kansas City to Las Vegas. To our customers who are huge sports fans, look what you made us do.鈥�

Not to be left out, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also has three flights in honor of his jersey 鈥� number 15 鈥� departing various times between the two cities.

United is also adding Swift and Kelce-themed during the weekend, too. It also added special flights from San Francisco including 1995, the last time the 49ers won the Super Bowl, and 1849, which United said was the 鈥渙riginal rush,鈥� the year of the California Gold Rush.

Airlines commonly added special flights to Super Bowl host cities for fans traveling to see the game. The game this year is set for Sunday, February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
