Counties.

.The Big Muddy River continues to rise due to heavy rain last week
and over the weekend. The river will crest on Thursday before
starting a very slow fall.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Alabama corrections officer who escaped with inmate has died in hospital, sheriff says

Alabama corrections officer Vicky White has died due to her injuries, Sheriff Dave Wedding of Vanderburgh County told

No law enforcement officers fired shots, according to Sheriff Rick Singleton of Lauderdale County, Alabama, where the pair -- who are not related -- fled on April 29.

Before the chase ensued, officers conducting surveillance spotted Vicky White exiting a hotel with a wig on, according to US Marshal Matt Keely. Then, she and Casey White got into a car and drove away.

Authorities continued to watch the pair until a vehicle pursuit began, ending when a US Marshals task force member drove a vehicle into the Cadillac Vicky White was driving. The car wrecked and rolled over, he said.

Officers were able to remove the inmate from the wrecked car, but Vicky White was pinned inside with a gunshot wound to her head, Keely said.

Casey White reportedly told officers, "Ya'll help my wife, she shot herself in the head and I didn't do it," according to Keely. Keely said to their knowledge Casey White and Vicky White are not married.

UPDATE: 5:10 p.m.

During a press conference from theÌýLauderdale County, Alabama Sheriff it was confirmed Casey White and Vicky White were taken into custody near Evansville, Indiana.Ìý

He said the pair were spotted at a hotel and took off from authorities. The pursuit ended in a crash. Casey White surrendered and Vicky was taken to a hospital after shooting herself.Ìý

Vanderburgh County,ÌýIndiana authorities say her condition is "very serious," but is still alive.

The Sheriff said a tip from a local citizen lead to the location of the pair.ÌýÌý

Arrangements have already been made to extradite both Casey and Vicky to Alabama for arraignment.Ìý

Wanted fugitives Casey White and Vicky White have been captured in Evansville, Indiana.

They were captured after a pursuit ended in a crash.

Vicky White shot herself and is being taken to a hospital. Her condition is unknown, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding told WAAY 31's Brittany Harry.

Casey White is in custody.
