CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- This is one of the weeks star-gazers look forward to every year!
The annual Aquarid Meteor Shower peaks Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. This well-known meteor shower as earth passes through the debris trail from Halley's Comet.
While the peak occurs tonight, weather may not cooperate as clouds are forecasted. Don't worry, the meteors are visible all week. The brightness of a waxing gibbous moon could make seeing faint meteors more difficult to see this year.
For best viewing, find a time when the Moon is low in the sky, typically in the pre-dawn hours.
In a typical year, the Aquarids have been known to produce up to 30 shooting stars per hour.
