week, dropping near to below flood stage by April 21.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...
Moderate flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

- At 11:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 25.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Sunday evening and continue falling to 19.6 feet Monday,
April 21.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Boil order lifted for Du Quoin water customers

Du Quoin residents under boil order

DU QUOIN, Ill. (WSIL) � UPDATE: February 5, 1:02 p.m. -- The boil water order has been lifted.

ORIGINAL: Some residents in Du Quoin have been under a boil order since Tuesday afternoon. 

The city says that these are the customers in the affected area: 

  • Orchard Lane

  • South Lake Drive

  • Howellman Drive

  • 800 block of South Madison Avenue

  • 900 block of South Madison Avenue

  • 1000 block of South Madison Avenue

City officials say the order will be lifted as soon as the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency approves water tests. 

The CDC recommends using bottled water or bringing your water to a rolling boil for at least a minute before use.
