(WSIL) -- The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to temporarily close the U.S. 45 Ohio River “Brookport� Bridge between Paducah, KY, and Brookport, IL, on Thursday morning, July 22, 2021.
The bridge will close at 9 a.m. and remain closed until approximately 11 a.m. Thursday.
Crews will be repairing the overhead signage and right-of-way maintenance work on the bridge approaches. Due to the placement of a bucket truck to facilitate the overhead sign work, the bridge will have to be closed to all traffic.
There will be no marked detour. However, motorists should self-detour via the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide timely notice should the planned work be completed earlier than expected.
The 10-span bridge carries approximately 5,000 vehicles across the Ohio River each day between Paducah, KY, and Brookport, IL. The 5,385 ft. structure at Ohio River navigation mile point 937.3 was opened to traffic in 1929.
