Cape Girardeau man arrested on charge of terroristic threat

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (WSIL) -- A Cape Girardeau man is behind bars on a charge of making a terroristic threat.

Police say it happened Sunday at about 1:30 p.m. Officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the 2500-Block of Jim Drury Way, the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex for a disturbance.

Officers arrived on scene and observed a large crowd exiting the SportsPlex in a panicked state. Investigators say 32-year-old Mackenzie Ivy, from Charleston, Missouri, had threatened to shoot up the place.

Through questioning bystanders, police said they learned Ivy was hiding in his vehicle in the parking lot. During a search of the vehicle, officers reported finding a 9mm handgun.

Ivy was formally charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecutors Office with class D felony of terroristic threat. Ivy is currently being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
