CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- The City of Carbondale broke ground Tuesday on it's first dog park. The committee to create the dog park formed in 2017.
The dog park will be constructed in Parrish Park and will be shaped like a dog bone.
The park was initially set to begin construction this past Spring, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed plans.
"And we were all set to go in March of this year, and COVID hit. And we were just stopped. So we've been meeting by Zoom ever since but to have this come together and be able to break ground and we can actually see the construction happen is really exciting," said the President of the Friends of Carbondale Dog Park, Jane Adams.
The park should be completed by the summer of 2021.
